My ideal Oscars ceremony…

February 23, 2015 By Lucy

Following today’s ceremony, I gave some thought to how my ideal awards show might look and feel.

Here’s a taste:

…would feature a queer woman host…

…would feature a performance by Madonna…

…and Sean Penn would stay quiet.

My ideal Oscars ceremony would feature weird, inspirational women like Björk expressing herself in a way that may appear odd but honest…

Björk

…would feature a selfie that breaks the internet…

thelma+and+louise-1

…and any way that a woman sees fit to express herself.

Jennifer Lawrence flips the bird

…and would feature a woman laying her claim to equal pay and equal rights in her acceptance speech.

Finally, my ideal Oscars would feature a woman of colour winning best director.
